I started Music Per Diem as a way to encourage a personal goal, to listen to more new music.  I wanted to become a resource for others regarding good music, something I knew would take a lot of time and energy.  By forcing myself to find and post a new song that I love by a new artist every day, it requires me to constantly be searching.  Becasue I only feature an artist once, I take careful choice with my selection.  I stand by the good music posted here.  Enjoy! :)
Groundwork Marketing is a Chicago-based company  dedicated to advancing good music.

As a connection, we can help things happen.

The music industry is complex.  I believe there are three crucial elements to success in this industry:
  1. Good music.  Music that is fun, surprising, beautiful, emotional or energizing.  You should be 100% confident that your music is good, and you should have proof because people outside your band and your bloodline enjoy it.  While Groundwork cannot help you make good music, I will certainly provide you with an opinion.  If I do like it, I may feature it on my blog Music Per Diem.
  2. A good plan.  Once you have good music, you need to make sure it’s available for others.  How do you get it from your head to their ears?  This involves booking, branding, social awareness, promotions, touring, submitting demos, meeting other bands, budgeting, and more.  Groundwork can help create and/or execute your plan.
  3. Connections.  Some may call it “luck” or “karma,” but the more you have of it the faster and broader success will be.  Since I believe you can own your growth, it's important to proactively make these connections.  By contributing to others’ success through show trading, making introductions, sharing information and recommending music you will also be fueling your own growth.  Groundwork would love to connect with you.

As a consultant, I can help you set and meet your goals. In order to achieve success you need an organized, actionable plan.  If you need help planning your next steps, Groundwork can help.

As a campaign manager, I can work to make your goals happen.  Once your goals are set and the game plan is ready, you need to execute.  I work hard to make things happen.  I can work with you and your team or I can be your team.

If you make music, please send it to me.  I will listen to it, share it with others, send you some feedback or post it on my blog, Music Per Diem.  Include your press materials also so I can learn a bit about you and even send you some feedback on the materials.  Also, as a middleman between bands and venues, I work to set up shows throughout Chicago.  Any music I receive will be considered for future events.  I can also assist with booking specific events and finding show-trades.

If you book a venue, I can help you find bands.  I can arrange whole nights, provide last-minute replacements, or fill a single time slot.  Contact me to discuss more.

If you’re in the music industry, please connect with me.  I love music and live in Chicago – two great conversation starters.  What do you do?  What can I do to help you?  Do you have any music recommendations?  If I post a band on Music Per Diem that I discovered because of you, I’ll be sure to give you props in the post.

If you’ve just stumbled upon this page, hi.  What do you think about Groundwork?  Do you have any music recommendations?  Do you see a way we can work together?  If I post a band on Music Per Diem that I discovered because of you, I’ll be sure to give you props in the post.

Please reach out to me.
I would love to learn more about your business and how I can help you succeed.
